How do I start or join a meeting in the app?

There are two ways to launch a meeting in the app:

  1. A scheduled meeting

    1. To launch a scheduled meeting, simply click on the Vowel meeting link from your Google calendar app and we will automatically launch the meeting in the Vowel app

  2. A new meeting

    1. Launch the Vowel app and click the ‘Meet now’ button

    2. This will launch a meeting in your personal room

    3. You can share the link directly with others so they can join the meeting with you in your personal room

Do Guests have to sign in with Google to join a meeting?

Guests are not required to sign in with Google in order to join a meeting. Read more about access here.

Why can’t I blur or select a background?

Selecting a background is not currently available in the app.

Why can’t I see or leave comments?

Comments are not currently available in the app, but we hope to release this functionality very soon.

Where are sharing and privacy settings?

Sharing and privacy settings can currently only be managed from a meeting on the web. If you need to adjust sharing and privacy settings, please join the meeting on web at this time.

Where can I access the hand raise queue or the meeting info tab?

The meeting info tab, including the hand raise queue, is not currently available in the app.

The video tile view is small, can I change the view?

There are two ways to change the tile view:

  1. Click on the more menu and select ‘Toggle speaker view’

    1. To exit the speaker view, click the more menu and then ‘Toggle grid view’

  2. Click on a video tile from the grid view and the tile clicked will become the speaker view

    1. To exit the speaker view, click the more menu and then ‘Toggle grid view’

Does screen sharing work in the app?

When an individual joining on the web shares their screen, the app users will be able to view the shared screen in-app. However, app users are not able to share their screen.
